Nottinghamshire Pilot

Nottinghamshire LSC and Connexions have joined forces to introduce Passport Online to Personal Advisers and Providers in the Mansfield area of the county. The three month pilot has sparked a number of new developments that might interest colleagues in other parts of the country considering adopting the online approach.

We have found that Connexions PAs in many parts of the country have been reluctant to introduce Passport fearing unecessary double data entry. To counter this, a major feature of the Notts pilot has been our commitment to introduce data transfer between Notts Connexions' Insight database and Passport. Passport Online Director, Ian Reid, comments: "We are starting small with one-way transfer of Profile and APIR data from Insight to Passport, but hope to build on this as our involvement with Notts E2E teams grows. Once this issue has been addressed it becomes much easier to focus on the many advantages Passport offers PAs in terms of being able to track and contribute to learners' progress on an E2E program."

Having examined processes around referral of learners to an E2E program, we have already introduced a SAVE DRAFT to the Referral Form (Adviser Login) allowing a referral to remain pending until they are placed with a Provider. The next upgrade here is to add an email feature to the referral form to allow a referral to be circulated and notify transfer.

E2E Providers in Notts have been quick to identify needs of their own. The Acorn Initiative have successfully introduced their own variation of the Activity Plan form. Their use of this form has been widely recognised as good practice so not surprisingly they are keen to keep using it. Ian Reid comments: "Of course it makes no sense to throw away established good practice, so LSC have made a commitment to work with Acorn to introduce an online version of their Activity Plan." The new form will be offered as an alternative to the standard Activity Plan form.

If you have any comments or questions, please don't hesitate to contact the Passport team at any time.
