How Do I - Install a Spelling Checker (Internet Explorer)

ieSpell is a spell checker for Internet Explorer. We have installed and used it with Internet Explorer v6 and Windows XP Home. As it is not our product, we make no claims for its wider use or reliability. What we can say is that we use it and it works well.

You can download IESpell from www.iespell.com/download.php. Open / run the downloaded installer and accept the terms and conditions. Firewalls notwithstanding, IESpell will install.
After installation is complete, you can check for updates. We declined.
You need to restart Internet Explorer. Once you have done this, its a good idea to set the dictionary to UK English. Go to the Tools menu and select ieSpell Options, then Language and Dictionaries. Select UK English from the drop-down list to replace US English.

To Check Your Spelling either
  • Right click on the page and press check spelling
  • Click on the ieSpell button on the toolbar
  • Click Tools -> Check Spelling
The edit box is straightforward with the usual spell check options.

Please Note
  • ieSpell is licensed free for personal use only
  • providers should purchase a site licence
  • ieSpell is not a Passport product and is not guaranteed or supported by MITAC Partnership
  • MITAC Partnership Ltd will not advise on or install ieSpell
  • installation is at providers' own risk
  • ieSpell is very useful but is not a required part of the E2E Passport.
