Extending Passport Use

Purpose and Audience
The purpose of this intermediate-level session for practitioners is to extend basic knowledge of E2E Passport Online by considering use of the core mandatory tools, Programme Plan, Activity Plan and Review, as well as Adviser functions beyond simple caseload management (eg Referral) and use of the useful Notes tool.
The session will start with a brief reminder of Passport concepts and then follow this with practical activities designed to illustrate the functions and features outlined above.
By the end of the 2.5 hour session, delegates will understand how to use Passport core tools more effectively and be able to make better use of Adviser functions to check and manager learners in their caseloads.

Capacity
With only one trainer, numbers need to be capped at 15 but 10-12 is a more comfortable number to ensure each participant is given the time and attention they need. Number of internet work stations available will also be a factor governing trainee numbers per session.

Programme Outline
The session starts by asking colleagues to talk about some of the tools with which they are experiencing difficulty. These difficulties are flipcharted for future reference. Following this, a brief presentation reminds delegates about the underlying concepts that make E2E Passport Online different.
The rest of the session focuses on practical work. The first task looks at Programme Plan asking delegates to first consider when and how the Plan should be completed and then working in pairs to further think about how it should be introduced and what difficulties may arise. A similar model is adopted for the second task which is a consideration of the Review tool.
Following a short break attention then switches to options available from an Adviser-only login. Task 3 looks at how to make a referral or transfer of a learner's Passport to another organisation. Delegates are shown how to use this function and encouraged to practise using it. Task 4 focuses on the Notes tools and how to add a Notes for any learner in their own or a colleague's caseload. The final part of the session looks at other features available from an Adviser login before addressing delegates' questions.
All practical work is supported by the Training Task Sheets and other resources available from the Passport Support website. There are a number of alternative (differentiated) tasks for more experienced users as required.
Finally if time allows there will be demonstrations of Passport Offline, Manager and support systems.
