Barriers
Barriers has a similar function to the Connexions APIR tool and covers similar issues. Its purpose is to present possible barriers to progression and to encourage the learner to consider how critical an identified issue is and what action is needed.
When is it Useful?
Barriers is more complex than ME or Profile and so is best left until the relationship between the learner and their advisor / key worker has developed.
Key Features
- Drop down lists allow each barrier to be assessed as always, usually, sometimes, never, strength.
- If a barrier is identified, further information is requested.
- Data entered is preserved from session to session.
- The form can be partially completed and returned to later to review and update.
- The Help file provides information for completing this activity as well as advice for advisors / key workers supporting the learner.
- On save current data is reviewed and an option to Print is available at the bottom of the form.
