Freedom of Information Act - 30-08-2005
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities and those providing services for them, subject to specific exemptions. The act came into force in January 2005. For the purposes of the act public authorities include national and local government, NHS and the police. Public authorities must produce a Publication scheme that set out the information they hold and their policies for providing public access to it. The new Act also establishes an Information Commissioner and draws in systems for implementing the 1998 Data Protection Act. Check out the Information Commissioner's Website for more information. You can find information at Department for Constitutional Affairs
Notes and Confidentiality - 29-08-2005
Advisers and Key Workers need to be aware that it is not appropriate to add confidential learner information using the Notes tool. Notes was intended to be a means to allow learners and advisers / key workers to communicate with each other. Advisers should, therefore, bear in mind that they are writing to a learner rather than about them. Remember - comments added can be read by all Passport stakeholders including the learner, PA, key workers and the E2E Manager. There is more information about Notes in the Tools section.
Offline - 27-08-2005
Couple of quick points about Passport Offline. First, you should be using version 8. This is more network-savvy and more easily integrated into organisations with established networks. Contact MITAC Partnership Ltd for an upgrade. Users also need to be aware that Offline is designed to download Passports onto a single laptop and that online files remain locked while Passports are being used offline. If you have multiple downloaded versions of the same Passort or you want advice and support, talk to Ian Reid.
