New Passport Manager - 05-11-2005
The new Manager program is now available offering managers many new features. See News for details. Managers and Admins need to note that although more detailed learner records can be kept and statistics created, neither of these two features will mean much unless the data is added in the first place. Adding data for starts, payments, progressions, etc retrospectively could be time-consuming. On the other hand, the time spent could pay handsome dividends in terms of the greater range of information available.
New How-To Sheets for Connexions - 03-11-2005
Three simple step-by-step guides intended for Connexions PAs have been added to the Resources section of the website. The guides cover, Starting a Passport, Referring a Learner and Using Notes. Although intended for Connexions PAs all three guides will be of some use to other organisations and individual advisers.
Offline Shutdown - 02-11-2005
It has come to our attention that if a computer is unexpectedly shut down while Passport Offline is running that the program will not restart when the computer is switched on again. This is caused by the old session ID file not clearing as it would if the computer was closed down correctly. The problem is easily fixed. Contact the Passport Helpline 0191 645 4184 for assistance.
Passport Server Moves - 02-11-2005
Pipex, from whom we lease the main Passport server, have told us they intend to move all servers from their Park Royal Data Centre to a new location. The new location offers a number of enhancements which should make Passport data more secure and the system itself better protected from for example power failure. Disruption is expected to be mimimal and limited to overnight periods. Although we don't expect any problems, we would advise all users to just be that extra bit careful around 29th November and SAVE / SAVE DRAFT on a regular basis.
Only One Window Please - 02-11-2005
Passport is only able to deal with one live session at a time. Please do not open more than one browser (Internet Explorer etc) window or tab and load different Passports as only the last one loaded will be available to edit. Always log out when you have finished with a Passport. Never try to open more than one Passport on the same computer.
